Is CBD Oil Addictive?

This is a common question on the minds of many minds these days. While a lot of people simply assume that it is since the cannabis plant is known for its recreational use, there are a few people who would bother to do research before jumping to conclusions. Since you seem to be one of those people who are asking “is CBD oil addictive?”, the answer is no.
Cannabis is well-known as an addictive and illegal drug all over the world. However, confusion often surrounds CBD (cannabidiol), which is a compound in cannabis does not contain the psychoactive component that characterizes the substance.

CBD has therapeutic effects but does not cause any psychoactive effect. In fact, CBD counteracts the psychoactive influence of THC and has proved to have anti-psychotic effects in schizophrenia patients.

Different strains of the cannabis plant have been created in Europe and Canada for various applications. Medical and recreational types of cannabis, usually known as marijuana, contains lower amounts of CBD and while containing higher amounts of THC, generally 6% – 20% THC. Other strains of cannabis have more CBD and decidedly less than 0.3 percent THC; these are called hemp. Hemp has many industrial uses; its fibres are broadly used in manufacturing, and its CBD is extracted for medicinal uses.

It is believed that the level of THC in marijuana is high enough to cause addiction. Due to this, marijuana use, sale and possession are outlawed in many countries. On the other hand, hemp contains so little THC that it cannot result in a psychoactive effect.

Both marijuana and hemp can be used to extract CBD oil, however the accompanying amount of THC varies depending on the source. CBD oil derived from marijuana usually contains more than 0.3% THC and may create a slight high. However, CBD oil derived from hemp contains less than 0.3% THC and is actually legal in many parts of the world.
